Choosing a silver coffee set for the majlis

Gahwa is served in a particular order. The host or the youngest man of the house pours, the eldest guest is served first, the cup is filled only a little so it can be refilled, and the guest gives the cup a small shake when they have had enough. A coffee set for the majlis is made for this ritual, and choosing one is about how it feels in that moment.
Size
Arabic coffee is drunk in small amounts, so majlis cups are small: our coffee cups hold 60 to 70 ml. For a large household or regular guests, choose a full set; for a gift to a smaller home or as a first piece, a single cup and saucer or a pair is ideal.

Guests notice weight before anything else. A cup of 100 g or more feels substantial in the hand and steady on the saucer. Lighter pieces are easier to pass around a crowded room. Every piece on our site lists its weight, so you can compare.
Finish
Niello gives a crisp black drawing that stays clear in any light. Bright silver without blackening shows its ornament through reflection and suits a lighter, more modern majlis. Gilding adds warmth for festive occasions.
875 or 925 silver
The number tells you how much silver is in the alloy: 875 means 87.5 percent, 925 means 92.5 percent, often called sterling. Both are durable precious silver suited to daily use. The difference is small in appearance; choose by design and weight first.
Care
Rinse cups after use with warm water, dry them straight away with a soft cloth and store them dry. Do not use the dishwasher or silver dips, especially on pieces with niello. A soft polishing cloth once in a while is enough to keep the shine.
